If you’re interested in adventure holidays in Scotland, there is a fabulous range of options close to Coastal Kippford. So if you’re an active family or just want to do more than meander on the beach or through woodland walks when staying with us, discover how you can have an adventure holiday nearby.
1. Galloway Activity Centre
A firm favourite with those who like a thrill, the Galloway Activity Centre is located on the banks of Loch Ken just 20 miles (about 30 minute drive) from Coastal Kippford.
If water is your thing, you can go out on the loch to sail, kayak, windsurf or stand up paddle boarding. Alternatively just let your inner child go wild on the Wobbly Waterpark! Don a wetsuit and helmet and you’ll be more than equipped to tackle the only giant waterslide in the region (an impressive 50m), ginormous inflatables and the bouncy air pillow, all located on Loch Ken – but don’t be nervous; instructors are on hand to ensure you are all safe.
If land based activities are more your style, you can choose from mountain biking, laser tag or archery. And for those with a great head for heights, try the climbing walls and zip wire fun.
The Galloway Activity Centre has no upper age limit on its activities, but offers advice on activities which may or may not be suitable for the youngsters in your party. You pay per the number of sessions (activities) you take part in – the more you do, the better the deal. It’s a great location for your adventure holidays in Scotland!
For more information, check out the Galloway Activity Centre website.
2. Laggan Outdoors
Laggan Outdoors is to the west of Coastal Kippord (about 27 miles / 40 minute drive away) in Gatehouse of Fleet. You’ll stay drier than at Galloway Activity Centre as the majority of activities are land-based – but that’s not to say you won’t have just as much fun!
The 820m zip wire boasts the accolade of being one of the longest zip wires in Europe. As it’s a double line zip, you can zip down together with a friend at the same time. If you’re up for this adventure, you’ll be taken on a 10 minute off road journey to a hilltop, where you’ll get instruction and be kitted out for the thrill – travelling up to 45 miles an hour, 30m above the ground.
But if heights leave you shaky, try your hand at clay pigeon shooting or archery, under the guidance of in-house instructors, and discover if your aim is true. Or for those more adventurous, why not try grass sledging or rolling down a big hill inside a huge, water-filled ball (aka water balling).
Laggan Outdoors offers a range of activities for dare-devils and also for those who like to live life a little more calmly! For more information, check out the Laggan Outdoors website.
