A park that has been cared for, and cared about, for over 60 years.
Coastal Kippford is one of those places that takes a moment to fully sink in. The hillside setting above the Solway Firth. The mature trees and dry-stone walls. The way the park feels private and expansive at the same time. It is the kind of holiday park in south Scotland that people describe as a discovery, somewhere they stumbled upon and then found themselves unable to leave behind.
The park has been owned and shaped by the Aston family since the late 1960s, passing through generations with the same guiding principle: create an environment of peacefulness and beauty, where anyone who visits can truly slow down.
The park was established by Robin Aston’s parents and has grown steadily, always with care and never at the expense of the environment that makes it special. Robin and his wife Gail have been the custodians of that legacy for decades, and in late 2023 their daughter Melanie Riach took on the day-to-day management of the park, bringing a fresh energy while keeping everything that makes Coastal Kippford what it is.
This is not a corporate park. There are no distant shareholders. The people who make decisions about Coastal Kippford are the same people who walk these grounds every day.
Coastal Kippford has held the David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award for 20 consecutive years. This is not a marketing badge. It is the result of genuine commitment to the landscape, the wildlife, and the responsibility of operating in one of Scotland’s most ecologically significant coastal areas. Red squirrels, resident birds of prey, and a remarkable diversity of flora are part of daily life here.
Coastal Kippford is a family run business. The current owners, Gail and Robin Aston, are second generation owners of the park with Robin’s parents having started the development in the late 1960’s. The park management was handed over to Melanie Riach, their daughter in Late 2023.
The family aim is to create a beautiful, peaceful and relaxing holiday environment that appeals to those who appreciate a place of pure tranquillity and wish to avoid noisier resort locations.
Conservation is very important to the entire family and they are very proud to have held the coveted David Bellamy Gold Conservation Awards for 20 years.
Melanie oversees the general running of the Park to ensure a first class service to all customers and a happy working environment for their team.
From reception to groundskeeping, the Coastal Kippford team are on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They know the park, they know the area, and they are genuinely pleased to help. Whether recommending a walk, answering a question about ownership, or simply making sure your stay is everything it should be.
