Are you looking for the perfect, luxurious, and comfortable place for a large family where pets are welcome?

Barnbarroch Lodge

Barnbarroch Lodge – the ‘Old School-master’s House’ – is an impressive Lodge build in the 1800s. It’s the perfect holiday let for large families and groups of friends (up to 8 guests) looking for luxury self-catering accommodation.

It is located opposite our local golf course/tea room Craigieknowes and just half a mile from the sea at Kippford. Miles of cycling in Dalbeattie Forest is just 300m away.

HISTORY

The adjacent property, Barnbarroch Pottery, was originally Barnbarroch School. The original school at Barnbarroch was non-parochial and is believed to have come into existence sometime in the early part of the Nineteenth Century (almost certainly before Dalbeattie got its first school in 1828). The school was closed on 29 June 1967 and in 1978 the building was converted by Christine and Rodger Smith into the Pottery where they specialise in producing decorated earthenware. Well worth a visit if you’re looking for a special gift.

SPECIAL FEATURES

Why choose this accommodation?

The Lodge itself has many wonderful features, the stunning 11m long dining/conservatory with French doors to the patio and garden being one. It’s a fantastic social space for the whole family to eat together, play games, or relax in front of the fire.
On those colder nights, the living room with open fire is perfect for snuggling up in front of the TV or relaxing with a fine wine and good book.
The kitchen is well equipped with tall American fridge freezer, dishwasher, modern Aga, and all the kitchen utensils required to cook up a feast. The handy utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer means you can keep on top of the holiday clothes.
The upstairs bedrooms are spacious and decorated in neutral tones, perfect for relaxing. With one king size, two double and one twin bedroom the whole family can snooze in peace. Linen and towels are provided, so one less thing to worry about!

After a busy day out and about, you can enjoy a long soak in the bath or relax in the steam room.
The large secluded and mature garden has spectacular planting, ‘Barbecue Pit’, and plenty of space for the kids and dogs to play. The Lodge has plenty of parking too. The kids also have free access to the two play areas on our adjacent holiday park.

Barnbarroch Lodge is the perfect base to return to after a day of paddling in the sea, mountain biking through our local trails, or exploring all that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer. There really is something for everyone in our beautiful region; walking, golf, cycling, fishing, and water sports to name a few. If history is your thing, you’ll be spoilt for choice with an array of castles and museums to explore.

But don’t take our word for it. Here’s what our customers say:

“Barnbarroch Lodge is a perfect size for my large family. The staff, location and cleanliness are second to none. The accommodation itself was top notch. The sun room was our grandkids favourite place to sit and enjoy the spectacular garden if the weather was bad. The smaller sitting room with the open fire just made the cold Autumn nights dwindle away. I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone wanting to visit this beautiful part of the country. I would give the staff, location and the outstanding landscaping of Kippford Holiday Park 5 stars.”

“We chose Barnbarroch Lodge; with there being 2 adults and 6 children the house was perfect. Plenty room and the garden is great for the children. We would recommend this accommodation. We love the area as there is plenty to do with the children. We didn’t come last year, going elsewhere with our grandchildren, but this year they asked to go back to Kippford.”
